Mohun Bagan Vs East Bengal: A Glimpse into Salt Lake Stadium

3 Oct ’16

The ground looks stunning from the top-most gallery.

Mohun Bagan is a legendary club. East Bengal is a legendary rival. These two teams on their own have kept the dying art of football alive in India for over a century, till the Goans joined the fray as well. Watching a match between these clubs is a scintillating experience. Yes, it can even beat a cricket match on a good day. Inspite of staying in Kolkata for almost 4 years, I have to a Mohun Bagan and East Bengal match only twice. I know I should have witnessed a few more, but alas that was not to be. Both occasions I have been there to witness a match, I have somehow managed to skip past the security my all-important camera and therefore I have a few photos I can share it with you.

The crowd is impossible to describe. It’s mad, mad and very mad! The thrill is infectious, the slangs hilarious and the bongs and liquor bottle aplenty! World’s 2nd largest stadium comes alive in a way that can blow your breath away!

Chidi Edeh was the primary Mohun Bagan striker back then.
