Fashion in the Night: A Shoot in Kolkata
22 May ’13
Shot with the Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 VR on my D90 in New Town, Kolkata.
Details: 18mm, 1/200s at f/4.0, ISO 100
Strobist Info: Nikon SB-700 mounted on a stand with a DIY Beauty Dish.
Lightroom Confessions: Highlights-, Brightness+, Shadows+, Spot Removal of around 40 mosquitoes from the legs and hands.
This shot was clicked a few months before as part of a fashion collaboration between EastGrad Fashion and Shayoni from ‘Sweet & Bitter‘. It was my first serious shoot with the SB-700 speedlight and thankfully it wasn’t a disaster. Most of the night shots came out really good.
The problems we faced during this shoot were plenty – uneven and rocky ground, focus hunting in the darkness, chilly winds (it was the fag-end of winter then), and lastly thousands of tiny bloodsucking monsters called mosquitoes. But thanks to superlative efforts by Shayoni, whose professionalism I cannot praise enough and DS whose backend support proved invaluable, all these problems were overcome and we could shoot till it became too cold and bloody (those lustful mosquitoes!).
